27 Jul First Monthly Recharge Axonics device implanted in California
This past week I implanted the next generation rechargeable neurostimulator (INS) from Axonics. This battery requires recharge once a month for about one hour. The prior battery required recharge for about one hour every 2 weeks. Patients may customize their recharge experience accordingly (i.e. charge for 15 minutes weekly or perhaps one hour every 2 months if the patient has a low stimulation intensity). This enhanced INS will have minimal battery degradation over a 15 plus year life. A 49-year-old Hispanic female was the first patient in California to receive the newest INS from Axonics. She had failed numerous OAB medications and had debilitating urgency of urination. This middle age woman will have a superior patient experience to manage her symptoms with the only rechargeable MRI full body conditional SNM device currently available in the US.
